"I first came to the YWCA in 2016 after my ex-husband tried to kill me. I was scared, confused, and didn't know what to expect when I walked in. Immediately I felt comforted in knowing that I was in a safe place. There was no judgement; I felt understood and like I was part of something special. Although I'm no longer in crisis-mode, I have been able to continue a relationship with the YWCA during my recovery; and know I can always find someone there to help me if I need it. The YWCA has empowered me to get my life back after domestic abuse and to help others, I cannot thank them enough!"
