Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services program is dedicated to supporting survivors in their efforts to heal from the trauma of domestic violence and/or sexual abuse and childhood sexual abuse. Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault support services include:

• Individual Counseling
• Group Counseling
• Twenty-four hour advocacy and support at police stations, hospital emergency rooms, and the courts
• Professional trainings and consultations

ERT -  Emergency Response Team

The Emergency Response Team is a service of the YWCA of Greater Flint Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services Program. Crisis intervention services are provided twenty-four hours a day for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Emergency Response Team, also known as ERT, works collaboratively with area Hospitals, Clinics and Law Enforcement Agencies to support survivors following a report of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
Advocates provide twenty-four hour coverage and are dispatched whenever a victim reports an assault to Hospital, Clinic, or Law Enforcement Staff and agrees to meet with the Emergency Response Team. ERT services include: 

• Empathic, kind and supportive advocacy
• Compassionate support during rape examination, explanation of the process and evidence collection
• Support at the Hospital for non-offending family and friends
• Explanation of the investigative and criminal justice processes
• Information regarding arrests, bail and releases
• Assistance with accessing YWCA services, including the SafeHouse and counseling for the survivor and their children
• Informing survivor of community resources including the Victim Witness Compensation program
